Kea is surrounded by a series of shipwrecks, from Titanic’s sister ship, the hospital ship Britannic and the French ocean liner “Burdigala” to steamboat “Patris” and a German plane “Junkers 52” from WW2.

The reef of Koundouros offers one of the most spectacular diving experiences in Greece.

The islet of Spanopoula, located close to the north side of Kea, is the ideal spot for seeing several large pelagic fish.

And since a place is undoubtably characterised by its food, you can grab a representative taste of Kea in its most unique dishes; “Paspalas” (pieces of pork meat with tomato and eggs, “Tsigaras” (pork meat with fat), “Loza” (smoked pork meat), wined rooster, and lobster spaghetti which you will never forget. All these tasteful options, can be found, in traditional restaurants, at Korissia, Ioulida, Vourkari and other villages around the island.

And finally, besides the famous thyme honey, do not forget to try and of course bring back with you some of the excellent local products of the island; dried cheese, mizithra, kopanisti cheese, all wonderfully accompanied by Kea wine, also known as Mavrudi.
